2 Students' experience and comments on the IPC
In the winter term 2008/2009 the project was evaluated with a questionnaire based survey (see publication o Ausband/Schultheis 2010 i. pr.). Besides feedback comparing content we gained insight about the personal benefit students saw in this international project.
The participating teacher students of different nations rate high on the potential the IPC-structure has on their future performance.
The majority of students pointed out the communication skills they gained, their impact on success of web projects and the their complexity. In addition to cultural differences and language problems the different time zones were quite a challenge. Other students pointed out the change of perspective and the opportunity to see pedagogical topics through the eyes of different international partners. The reactions show that being part of an international project also has emotional aspects.
Laura, an American student comments on her personal experience: “It made me feel more connected to a larger view of the work of teachers in that we all are helping to provide our world with more education and functional citizens.“
Amanda remembers: “The project helped me become more aware. I will be able to bring a lot of what I learned into my teaching career.”
