Study plans nowadays have a very tight schedule and little possibilities to look beyond one´s own nose. Therefore there is often very little space to find one´s own main focus and little time to spend with self-chosen topics, to read further literature or to attend extra lectures. The work on the core curriculum is priority and defines the topic of the basic lectures. Because of the little time and the amount of subject matter these basic courses are often only instructive and lecturing.
Often there is no time left for

acquiring learning contents independently,

explorative learning,

project work,

the connection between theory and praxis,
i.e didactical approaches of a constructivist learning paradigm. The didactical conceptionof the course "internet - and project competencies" enhances autonomy and one´s own initiative. Students are challenged to learn in an explorative way on the basis of self-designed research questions.
Therewith the students are responsible for learning processes and results:

they have to choose the research topic on their own

they need to organize themselves in groups

they need to develop research questions

as a group, they need to make schedules, collect data and analyze the results

they present their results together
For us, this is a learning process that needs to be supported. Academics and tutors are giving help when needed and in which way it is needed: concerning expertise, methods or organization. Thanks to the combination of meetings in the university and online presence, the students can be coached continuously. Each university taking part in the program provides at least one native speaking academic and tutor, being an every day contact person via online communication.
